Richard Rees, Austinβs biggest collector of skate decks is bringing you THE BIG DECK SHOW, a skate deck art show!
This year heβs teamed up with Propaganda HQ, known for their huge community art shows and events, to host his show and throw a spotlight on the skateboarding culture in Austin.
This show will have 80-100 artists and 300-400 skate decks for sale to the public! Don't miss your chance to be part of the experience!

About the Event:
I will be participating in the 2025 Austin Studio Tour with a booth at Propaganda HQ, alongside multiple talented artists hosted by the Creative Art Society. I will have original silk paintings, hand painted silk scarves, fine art prints (framed and unframed), and greeting cards available for purchase.

Flow on Silk: Painting with Freedom and Form Masterclass with Laura

Class Details: November 1 & 2, 2025 | 11 am- 6 pm | Open to artists 16+
Ready to break the rules and discover a more expressive way to paint on silk? In this immersive workshop, Laura Fox-Wallis will teach you how to paint outside the linesβliterallyβby freeing your work from traditional resist techniques. Using her own interpretation of a sizing method, you'll explore how to build rich color, form, and texture to create realistic, dimensional artwork on silk.
This workshop is designed for all levels and includes all materialsβjust show up ready to experiment, learn, and create!
Together, weβll work through a specially designed project from start to finish. Laura will guide you step-by-step through the process, from preparing your silk and mixing dyes to applying inventive techniques that bring your subject to life. Youβll leave with a completed artwork and the skills to continue creating on your own.
This is a rare chance to learn an advanced silk painting technique in an approachable, supportive environment. Whether you're new to silk or looking to expand your skills, youβll leave with confidence and a beautiful, gallery-ready piece.

How to stretch silk onto a PVC frame for painting
Transferring your design to silk using water-soluble graphite
Mixing silk dyes to create a full range of values (highlights, mid-tones, and shadows)
Evenly applying Magic Sizing to prepare the silk surface

Join Master Silk Painter, Laura Fox-Wallis, for a three-session workshop designed to deepen your understanding of color mixing and application on silk. Over three Saturdays, youβll learn how to confidently mix colors using the double color wheel, create both vibrant and muted tones, and apply color intentionally to bring harmony, depth, and movement to your artwork.
Week 1: Unlock the power of the double color wheelβlearn how to mix vibrant, dull, warm, and cool hues with precision.
Week 2: Discover how to use value and intensity to build depth and form, making your subjects come alive.
Week 3: Explore layering and application techniques to create visual harmony and contrast, and learn how to mix the perfect color combinations for your own painting.

Austin Studio Tour
I will once again be participating in the Austin Studio Tour WEST at my studio, ArtUs Co.
I will be debuting five NEW artworks, NEW silk scarves, as well as prints, cards, and more in the gallery, gift shop and my upstairs studio, #211.
The opening reception for the Collective Show will be on Friday, November 8th from 6-10pm at ArtUs Co.

SPIN Festival 2024
The popular Silk Painters International Festival is back. A broad array of classes has been developed especially for the 2024 Festival. Join attendees from around the world with classes taught by expert, Silk Artist instructors.
Attendees/students will learn new approaches and enhanced techniques critical to creating silk art. This week-long learning experience was developed with both new artists and experienced artists in mind.

Brushstrokes on Silk: An Introduction to Creating Wearable Silk Art with Laura Fox-Wallis

Class Description: This one day silk painting workshop will give you a valuable foundation to begin your new obsession creating wearable silk art. Participants will also learn how to use marker as a resist to create beautiful designs. Patterns will be provided, however participants can choose their own image to work from.
This silk workshop, which uses non-toxic silk paints is simple enough for absolute beginners, yet is also an exciting way for more experienced painters to transfer their talents onto silk. Once the setting process is complete, participants will leave this experience with two beautiful, wearable silk artworks. This is a time to nurture your artistic side, all skill levels are welcome!
Topics Covered: Participants will focus on basic techniques and processes of silk painting. Various techniques such as salt, alcohol, resist, color mixing, and the flow of dye on silk will be introduced as you create an 11β x 11β and a choice of a 14β x 72β or 30β x 30β silk scarf.
Materials Needed: Apron, Old Clothes (the dyes stain), Disposable Gloves (optional). Bring your lunch or choose from one of the many available restaurants in the Arboretum.
